Does it hurt?

Shockwave therapy can cause some discomfort to begin with but this reduces as the treatment progresses.

How many sessions will I need?

We recommend between 3 to 6 sessions depending on your injury.

Who can't have Shockwave Therapy?
  • If you are pregnant

  • If you have a blood clotting disorder (including thrombosis)

  • If you are taking oral anti-coagulants

  • If you have received a Steroid injection within 6 weeks (you must wait 6 weeks after)

  • If you have a Pacemaker fitted

  • If tumours are present at the treatment site

  • If you have an infection or skin abrasion at the treatment site

  • Pre-ruptured tendon or metal plates/pins at the treatment site

  • Under 18's (except in the treatment of Osgood-Schlatter disease)
